Black Dog
No, I haven’t been on holiday all the time since my last post. Simply that I still don’t have a publisher and it’s now getting embarrassing when people ask. Also, beyond depressing. Thirty years, never out of print, and now this. I mean….
So although I haven’t yet given the order to lower the lifeboats, I do have a plan. If no-one has snapped me up by August I’ll self-publish. To which end, I’m now scheduling one day a week to learn how self-publishing is done. There are other new skills I’d much rather be acquiring, but there it is. Needs must.
I’m currently working on Book 2 of a series no-one wants and have co-opted Sir Harry Lauder as my personal trainer. You too can get spurred on here. ‘Round the bend’ is about right!
That is unbelievable that someone with such talent and range struggles to publish when “celebrities ” seem to have no problem.
Agreed, Linda. As the “black dog” reference leads back to Churchill, I will quote another useful Churchillian saying: “Keep Buggering On!”
I love everything you write. 👌
I’m so sorry to hear this. I came across your blog whilst searching for a list of your books in case there were any that I have not read (there were none). I’ve recently re-read some of your books, something I never usually do and loved them the second time around.
please self publish if it means we can read the series I am sure your loyal fans want it!!!
The publishers don’t know what they are missing
my mental and physical health DEPEND on a new Laurie Graham every so often. !!!!!!!
What is the literary world coming to when publishers are not queueing up to publish you? I’m ever hopeful to find a good read among the tide of general fluff and drivel being published at the moment, but for years now nothing has come close to a Laurie Graham,so I just have to keep re-reading my collection of your books and looking forward to the next one. Please know that your readers appreciate everything you’re doing, Laurie, and the publishers are definitely missing a trick. It’s their loss.
Late to the party as ever, this news has only just reached me. OMFG as the kids put it.. I am outraged, devastated and appalled. There is nothing, literally nothing, like a book by LG to lift the spirits, cause shrieks of laughter and recognition and make a soul feel better than it did beforehand. Please, Laurie, don’t stop writing. So glad to hear that you have a back up plan and cannot wait to be at the forefront of this new-fangled approach. Your readers will be there avidly awaiting the new stuff. Go Laurie!!
